Accessories – Gloves for Pickleball
One of my newest accessories for pickleball is the addition of gloves, which have now became an integral other part of my pickleball outfits. I color coordinate my gloves as well.

Sport Gloves can eliminate the paddle slipping in your hands due to perspiration. Gloves also protect your hands from injury and blisters. In colder conditions, gloves can keep hands and fingers warmer. Ball hits can bruise hands and for me, the gloves protect my manicure. Even balls can hurt my hands as they are sensitive.
It may take a little to get used to playing with gloves. For me it was easy as I have always ridden horses in my life before playing pickleball. I started with actual riding gloves. There are specific pickleball gloves also. Some people only wear them on the dominate hand, however if you do two handed backhands both hands being gloved is better. I would feel really odd only wearing a glove on only one hand. Sun gloves are thinner and don’t affect feel for dinks.
When the weather is warm keeping your hands cooler is important to reduce paddle slippage. Sun gloves can help increase evaporation and increase a cooling affect. Silicone palms and fingers provide a non-slip grip especially if your hands perspire a lot. I use the top of the gloves to wipe my face as well.
You can get finger tipless gloves but I prefer gloves that offer a tip for using your cell phone or a slip tip option. One of the reasons I started using gloves was to protect my manicure.
Sun gloves will protect your hands without the need of sunscreen on them. Gloves also come in full sleeves to shield arms from sun damage.
TIP: I like to wash my sun gloves with my outfits on a delicate cycle, although instructions say hand wash and air dry to keep them smelling clean and looking good.
