Basic Features of the Pickleball Court
A standard rectangle pickleball court is 20 feet wide by 44 feet long and is the same size as a badminton court for both singles and doubles play. The net is placed across the middle with 22 feet on either side of the net. Since the Net is so important, I gave it a separate post – Click here to view post about the net.
The first 7 feet from the net on each side is called the non-volley zone or kitchen. The balance of court on each side is divided in half – perpendicular to the kitchen – designated as service areas. While it may seem overwhelming, we found it pretty easy to understand once we started playing.
For reference I have included a picture from the USPA.

The above picture is a great resource if you ever decide to set up a temporary pickleball court in a driveway or parking lot. It is recommended to set up the court north to south if at all possible so players don’t have to look directly into the sun. Below are some options that make it easy to play pickleball almost anywhere. Click on the image for more information or to purchase.
